About Us

The love of the sea never leaves you.

Our story began when Hayle fisherman’s son Caleb launched the deli in 2003. Raised on his dad’s catch, Caleb grew up knowing how to prepare and eat all sorts of seafood, and this love of the sea and its bounty never left him. He became a chef, and Mousehole Deli & Kitchen is where everything comes together.

The original Hole Foods Deli opened in 2013, and aimed to make fantastic local produce easily accessible. It also created a foodie hub for the community to enjoy and to encourage visitors to buy local. Caleb also wanted to bring his ethos of nutritious, well-balanced eating to this new venture.

There’s now a fabulous team of 20 working in the deli, restaurant and kitchen. Caleb is joined by his partner Terri, who has 30 years’ of hospitality experience. She manages the front-of-house, and there’s a real family feel to the whole place.

Our menus change all the time – that's one of the beauties of having a local catch and plenty of farms nearby. You can be sure that every day has at least one seafood, meat and vegan dish, with gluten-free and other dietary requirements also available.
