Sea Salts & Sail 2022
Seafaring festival in Mousehole, 1-3 July 2022
We’re delighted that Mousehole’s summer festival is happening again this summer. Traditional boats tack around the island and aim to navigate their way through the narrow harbour opening, while the village bustles with live music, chatter and street stalls.
The festival has been held every two years since 1996 (with a break in 2020), and it’s become a real highlight of West Cornwall’s calendar.What’s happening at Sea Salts & Sail?
Historic vessels from Cornwall, Wales, Brittany and Ireland, among other places, converge in Mousehole’s waters, enthralling onlookers with a spectacular display of seamanship as they sail in and around the harbour.
The family-friendly festival also attracts local bands and musicians, creating a lively atmosphere in the streets. There are craft and food stalls around the village, and marquees along the quay. The festival runs for three days, giving visitors plenty of chance to experience the event.
What’s good to know?
Sea Salts & Sail is always busy, so be prepared to come early if you need to park nearby, or catch the bus from Penzance. Once you’re here, the busyness becomes a bonus, as the atmosphere is always lovely, and it’s such a good-natured event.
Call in to see us in Mousehole Deli & Kitchen, to pick up a takeaway, snacks and drinks for the event. A pasty and a bottle of Cornish ale while watching the boats: perfection.
